Psychological Services Practicum and Internship Experiences
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is the second largest school district in the nation with an economically, culturally, and linguistically diverse student population. For further information about the demographics of the district, please refer to LAUSD Fingertip Facts 2025-26.
 
The Psychological Services department of LAUSD in collaboration with the University/Institutes of Higher Education (IHE) are responsible for the placement, training, and development of future school psychologists.
 
LAUSD currently provides both practicum and internship field experiences in accordance with the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and California Association of School Psychologists (CASP) requirements.
Understanding the Placement Process
  • Prior to starting any field experience (School Psychology Practicum/Internship), the University/IHE must have an active Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement with the Los Angeles Unified School District
    (LAUSD).
  • Candidates seeking placement must submit an application by the specified deadline to be considered for the upcoming LAUSD Instructional calendar year. Please see application requirements below.
  • Select applicants offered an opportunity for placement are contingent upon meeting the eligibility requirements, including fingerprint clearance. Please refer to your University Field Coordinator for additional information.
