Transportation
Transportation
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) 2004 conveys to the IEP team the authority to determine whether transportation is necessary for a student to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). In making this determination, the IEP team must consider:
- The needs of the student; and
- The least restrictive form of transportation appropriate for the student.
Transportation is provided as a related service for students with disabilities if:
- The student is placed by the District at a school other than their school of residence; or
- The student’s disability prohibits them from getting to school in the same manner as their non-disabled peers.
This includes the following types of transportation services:
- Home to School
- School to School
