The Behavior Support Department is committed to fostering positive behavior practices across LAUSD. Our vision is to build a supportive community where students gain the lifelong skills needed to reach their fullest potential. Guided by our mission to ignite success, we work to empower students, strengthen schools, and create a culture where we achieve more together through collaboration and care.
Focus Areas
- Professional Development
We provide a variety of professional learning opportunities focused on Multi-Tiered System of Supports-Behavior, helping staff deepen their knowledge, skills, and capacity to better support students’ behavioral needs. - Consultation
We empower school teams to advance positive behavior practices and champion prevention strategies through Behavior Support Clinics, paraprofessional drop-in sessions, and other support tailored to each school site. - Behavior Related Services
Behavior Related Services provide intensive, collaborative, and data-driven support to help students with disabilities develop positive behaviors, prevent challenging behaviors, and build greater independence, ensuring every student can access learning and supports designed for their unique needs. - Behavior Emergency & Discipline Support
Through training, coaching, and targeted support, we assist schools and District staff with discipline procedures for students with IEPs, emergency intervention trainings, guidance on Behavior Emergency Reports, and function-based interventions, ensuring equitable outcomes and fostering safe, supportive learning environments.
