Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT)
The Occupational Therapy (OT) Program is a related service that supports students with disabilities in accessing their educational curriculum by addressing the student's physical, sensory motor, environmental factors and activities that support or limit participation in school and access to the curriculum. OT services are provided based on individual student needs as determined through the IEP process. The goal is to promote student independence and participation in daily school activities, such as using materials and tools in the classroom and participating in mealtime and playground activities.The program serves students from preschool through age 22.
Focus Areas
  • Service Delivery
    Provide service per the students OT prescription on the IEP.
  • Access to Curriculum
    Partner with teachers and staff to integrate strategies that promote student success across school environments.
  • Professional Development
    Provide training and resources to school staff on sensory supports, fine motor development, and inclusive practices.
  • Family Engagement/Collaboration and Support
    Empower families with tools and strategies to support their child's functional development at home and in the community and ensure compliance with IDEA, California Ed Code, and District policy.
