Report on Improving Student Outcomes and Ensuring Rights

The Los Angeles Unified School District’s Office of the General Counsel, Ethics and Compliance Monitoring (ECM) Legal Services Team, published the Report on Improving Student Outcomes and Ensuring Rights (en Español), June 2025. This report updates an earlier version published in May 2024. The June 2025 report highlights the District’s efforts during the 2023–24 school year to provide resources and supports for ethical practices, implement activities to close opportunity gaps and improve student outcomes, and ensure compliance with the legal rights and protections guaranteed under various education and civil rights laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 508), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI). The report also provides recommendations for the District’s continued efforts in these areas.
